And with that, it was time to go home. We were both sad - we'd had such a lovely week with family and we'd been so lucky with the weather and had managed to fit so much in. But time to go home and do the washing and settle back into real life again, and start to plan the next trip.

Hayling Island Holiday with Mum - Time to go Home
And with that, it was time to go home. We were both sad - we'd had such a lovely week with family and we'd been so lucky with the weather and had managed to fit so much in. But time to go home and do the washing and settle back into real life again, and start to plan the next trip.

Hayling Island Holiday with Mum - Day 7
Today started off, as usual, with a swim before heading over to Gun Wharf to meet Sheila for lunch and a wander. Sheila sadly couldn't stay for the afternoon so Mum and I headed up Spinnaker Tower to look at the views.
After tea, I left Mum to do some packing - sadly we had to go home! - and I took Domino for a drive around the island, where I'd lived many years before, and we had a walk on the beach before heading back to Mum and the caravan.
I did feel quite sentimental about the time I'd spent down here, and the friends I'd made - and still keep in touch with today - Portsmouth and Hayling Island are very special to me.

Hayling Island Holiday with Mum - Day 6
Day 6 was another lazy day for us - we had our swim first thing in the morning, before heading out to Bognor Regis for a paddle and a mooch. It was so incredibly hot that we parked the car in a very shady and cool multistorey car park and left Domino in there with water and the windows down, while we headed off into the heat for refreshments and shopping - there was a market in Bognor that day, so we bought ourselves some cooler clothing!
Another lovely day.
