Almost a year ago, I visited Mannington Hall for the first time for their National Garden Scheme opening day. A lovely time of year to visit because of all the baby lambs and daffodils!
The drive up to the Hall is bordered by banks and banks of daffodils - so beautiful on a lovely sunny day, although pretty cold.
It was also a really useful visit as I was at the beginning of my Design module for the RHS Level 2 Horticulture course and, while things weren't actually out in flower, I could see the bare bones of the designed beds - and, clearly, I must have learned something as I passed that exam with a Commendation!
The water feature design beds were fab - as they used real taps!
So simple, but so effective.
The hall is surrounded by water - moat and lake - and has some really interesting planting schemes. Because there's also a lot of woodland as well as the formal rose beds, there's lots to interest the visitor, whether they're horticulturally inclined or not.

While I really enjoyed the gardens, I'm almost always drawn to the "wilder", more landscaped aspects of a garden - I definitely need to go back at different times of the year also to look at different seasonal planting.
