Other People's Gardens - June 2020

This bed makes me really happy - I've never thought of putting Sisyrinchium in with foxgloves before - but having seen this beautiful combination, I'm going to nick this idea for my own garden now.

I wish I could take some credit for this, but I can't.  It's Mum and Dad's back garden and they only ever let me weed their drive or work in their front garden!

Seeds and Stuff - June 2020

The garden has been blooming with loads of colour.  Since I took this photo, the poppies have already gone over and I now have seed saved for next year and to gift to others also.

This critter made me jump!  I've got so many frogs in my garden - god knows where they come from as I have no water out there.   But there are tonnes of them and they make me jump and squeal on a very regular basis.

The poppies have been so tall, they've been growing up into the Cercis.

In the back garden, the Passiflora has been rampaging over the pergola.  And in the front garden, it's the Hydrangea that has taken over the walls.

Despite my neighbour's good intentions to cut back Auntie June's Hebe, it does look beautiful - on one side, which, luckily, is the side I see from my living room.  And actually who cares what is happening on the ugly side that the neighbours see?   (Picture of me for scale to show how tall the Hebe is!)

We had some excitement too when my neighbours on the right decided to put new fences up, which, of course, necessitated the old fences coming down.   Luckily, over a couple of days only, so I had to be on constant alert to make sure that Finn didn't make a bid for freedom!   It was interesting to see how much higher their garden is - this road is on a slope (hence the steps up to the front of the house), but there's a definite drop of at least two feet.

Odds and Sods - June 2020

The summer seems to have gone on for ever this year - not that I'm complaining - and I keep forgetting it's only mid July as I type this.

I'm still eating way too much - although the restaurants and pubs are starting to open up again.  But as I've stopped spending money generally as I'm too scared to go into normal shops, I seem to have spent more on food instead!

I developed a summer cough/ cold a few weeks back and, as we're all so careful nowadays, work insisted I go and have a Covid test which wasn't the most pleasant experience - swabs up my nose so far it felt it was going to come out of my eyeballs, and one down my throat which made me gag.  All very strange, I felt like I was in some sort of science fiction film, with all the marshalls and medics in full PPE regalia and me not being able to wind down my car windows.

I've been busy making myself  a jumper, not much further to go now.

I've also been making myself a blouse - it's been ages since I made myself something - I think I've probably just lost a bit of confidence.

Finn and I had lots of lovely cuddles and the odd walk during June - although not so many walks as it was very very warm - and I'm heartbroken that I had to say goodbye to him a couple of weeks ago now.   I'm so glad I've taken so many photos of him over the years and have some wonderful memories of my beautiful boy.
