Holiday Randoms - Cornwall - March 2023

Amanda and I headed off to Cornwall for a couple of weeks in March 2023 and the weather was shocking - in fact, there was even a danger that we'd get snowed in.  Not that we minded, of course, we'd have been very happy to stay down there!   As we had two weeks there, and we also really needed a break, we decided not to try and cram too much in this time for a change, and the holiday was just what we wanted - nice and chilled out.  Plenty of fresh air, plenty to eat and drink, lots of time for knitting and reading.  Just perfect.

Ganseys

Shannon's very successful business needed something a little bit different and special for the various yarn shows she sells at each year and so we came up with the idea of making some tiny jumpers to show off her yarns and how they knit up.   Having bought a gansey pattern from Sheringham Museum a number of years ago as part of their Gansey exhibition, we played about with it to make sure we could make them small enough to use up a 20g mini skein of yarn.   All with the permission of the pattern writer, of course, and, in fact, Shannon now sells these patterns and all proceeds go to the Sheringham Museum charity and the Lifeboats.

These are just a few of them - I've now made hundreds of them and they give me such a thrill to see them all hanging up on Shannon's stand - and she gets so many comments about them which is lovely.

Golden Ticket Day!

Oh my goodness!   On a visit to Byfords in Holt at the end of 2022, because we'd spent so much money (a given, obviously!), we were rewarded with a Golden Ticket so Shannon and I went back in February 2023 to have lunch and claim our prize - free puddings!    What a lovely surprise!   Although we could barely move afterwards.

We love Byfords!
