Duxford Quilting SHow

Back in March 2019, Mum and I headed to Duxford for the quilting fair, or, more accurately, for all the fabric sellers for a bit of retail therapy!

As always, there were some wonderful quilts exhibited, and all very different.   Some more traditional showing folky motifs, right bang up to date with some beautiful quilts illustrating family pets.   My favourite type of quilts are the more geometric ones, although there weren't many of those, certainly not interesting enough for me to photograph - the above photos are all I took.  I suspect it was because I was too busy buying fabric!

Swaffham Saunter

One Saturday in March 2019, on a grey and cold day, I decided to go exploring in Swaffham - and chose a Saturday as it's market day.   St Peter & St Paul Church welcomes visitors on a Saturday and serves tea and cake, which was so welcome after such a cold day.

Sheringham Scira Festival

Back in February 2019, Shannon and I headed to Sheringham to catch up with Rat and Pam, and head out to the beach, along with the world and his wife!   The occasion was the finale of the Sheringham Viking week - the Scira Festival where a long boat was carried through the town in a torch lit procession, taken to the beach and set on fire.  Think Up Helly Aa, but in North Norfolk!

We had ages to kill so went and found ourselves a spot, took some beer, and had a lovely time, chatting, singing, dancing, putting the world to rights and generally taking the mickey out of each other.   Perfect evening!   (This is the evening where a Fair Isle hat was officially renamed a "feral hat" - Shannon is brilliant!)

A fab afternoon and evening, finished off by a portion of chips on the way home. Perfect!

Peddars Way - Revision Avoidance

Back in February 2019, while I was knee deep in revision for my RHS exams, I couldn't cope with horticultural books and past exam papers any longer, so Finn and I headed off to walk some of the Peddars Way as a diversionary tactic!

Severn Way Saunters

In December 2018, Andy moved job down to the west country, to work on the Hinckley Point power station project.   I was so sad that he went, as he'd been working in Norfolk for eighteen months, so we'd had all that time together and I'd forgotten what it was like for him to work away.  The bonus about where he works now is that it's a fabulous place to explore, and it feels like going on holiday each time I go down to the caravan.

Our caravan is at Pilning, which is about a mile inland from the Severn estuary, and slap bang between the two bridges into Wales.   To walk from the caravan to the river and then along to either of the bridges, is about a four mile walk in total, perfect for an afternoon bimble.
