Gone Fishing

Given that Andy was living here in Norwich for fifteen months and also that we have so many good lakes in Norfolk, it still surprises me that we only went fishing a handful of times in that period - I still don't know how we managed to be so rubbish!
Back at the tail end of last year, we did manage a few trips, just before Andy left for the west country.  And on both occasions, we only did day trips and left Finn at home - it was much too cold for camping out.
This site was on the way up to North Walsham, so north of Norwich.
I couldn't actually tell if Andy caught anything as it was so cold that I spent most of the day sitting in the van with my college notes, revising for upcoming exams.  I did go out and have a wander about though while there as it was very pretty.
This chap was very handsome and very friendly, but, God, he stank!!!
To be fair, I don't think I've ever been this close to a sheep before so perhaps they all stink and I just don't know it?  Perhaps I shouldn't be singling this one out for derision?!
The second site that we went to is practically in the city itself and again we only went for the day and didn't take Finn.  This site is much busier.
If anything, this day was even colder and the pontoons were very icy and quite treacherous.  Again, I sat in the car the whole day practically, this time knitting - I was on a mission to get all my Christmas presents made!

Bacton

It seems crazy uploading these photos today, showing us all wrapped up against the cold - when today it has been 26 degrees and I've acquired a very fetching shade of lobster pink while sitting in a pub garden!

I don't know why we don't go to Bacton beach more often to be honest - it's lovely and sandy and not too busy - which suits me and Finn.

Although the day we went back in November was a bit tricky as the tide was right in so we had to walk along the prom for most of the way and Finn didn't come off the lead for quite a while, which is always traumatic for both of us.  Luckily, Andy was in charge on this day.

Once he does get off the lead, he does love to have a good roll in the sand!

And of course he does love a paddle, whatever the temperature.

Other People's Gardens - May 2018

Do I look like a gardener?!
This is my new uniform and I love it!
As I type this, it's actually my last day of college today.  And because we were so behind with all our assessments because of the weather in the winter, we've had a frantic few weeks trying to fit everything in.  We've spent some time on the machinery - which was actually more exciting and less terrifying than I had expected!  Although I'm still hugely disappointed that we didn't get to have a go on the tractor.
We've also been weed, feed and moss killering the lawns.  That is a verb, right?!
We've also been spending quite a bit of time wandering around the college grounds enjoying the flowers when we should have been working, but you can't fail to be distracted by the beauty of everything springing into life.
The plots have continued to keep us occupied, mainly with weeding all the blinking thistles out.  I feel that we were fighting a losing battle - how we've managed to grow anything is nothing short of a miracle!
I've had quite a bit of gardening work lately which is fab - although now that college is finished, I get a day off a week again so really need to push for more business to keep me occupied.
This garden is beautiful and right next door to the church - I've been lucky enough to work here on a Sunday morning and spent the morning accompanied by the church bells.  Fabulous.
This is Mum and Dad's garden - which is also looking beautiful.  (As college finished today, we were allowed to run amok in the greenhouses and take any plants that we wanted to - and quite a few of them are now situated in Mum and Dad's garden, awaiting planting up!)
