Warkworth 2017

I can't quite remember where we'd been for the day - probably Alnmouth and Alnwick! - but we headed back to the caravan via Warkworth - Amanda had been on her mobile 'phone app to find out where we might find a gluten free cafĂ© and a tearooms had been flagged up in Warkworth.  Technology is a wonderful thing!  But before we could have tea and cake, we really did need to have a bit of a walk, and to wear Finn out as he was going back in the car for a while, while Sid came into the tearooms with us.

.
All the times we have been through Warkworth and we've never visited the castle, now in the care of English Heritage and free to wander around the perimeter.  Amanda found herself a bench and sat down with Finn and Sid while I went exploring.
How wonderful to have such a good view of a castle from your bedroom windows!
It was pretty cold as we headed back down along the river to deposit Finn in the car.
And Sid made some whippety friends in the tearooms - at this point, I breathed a sigh of relief that we didn't have Finn with us - he is such a lovely boy, but so anxious and grumpy with other dogs - unless he's out in the great outdoors running around with them.  Stuck inside with them and he gets a bit unpredictable.
A fab selection of cakes and coffees - and I imagine somewhere we'll visit again when we're next in the area.
